New Mage gear in water plane ?

Due to the EPIC cock up i made on my pally, i dusted off my mage and i was wondering about mage gear, before i left WN the Water plane wasnt compleated so i was wondering if its worth a look to see about a new staff or mage armor,

I have ( a named staff i cant spell begins with A ) and archmage robes

Ps, i was thinking about getting auto still for a sheild do you think its worth it and is there any suted to a mage as well as full plate for a mage ? in the future ?

Then surely i would need a wall of steal to breach such a place tho my power is strong i am but one mage isnt there a legdanary hero to aid me ?
