Good news: My comp's back! I can play WC!

Bad news: I still can't find my NWN disk. Then I gotta find my CD-Key. Then my SoU and HotU CD-Keys. And I'm good at losing stuff.

Just tell me EB will still exist in NWN2.

How can you lose so many things?

NWN2 - as yet undetermined.

GL on finding the NWN disk.

Toss, here are some easy steps to take to find me on B.Net.

1. Slap yourself.
2. Go out and buy Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and the expansion,The Frozen Throne.
3. Create an account named Protoss119
4. Add JYAP to your buddy list
5. Play until you find me.

1 is mandatory. :P

You fool! You turned me into a Bor- ~transforms into Borg drone~

We are the Borg. You will be assimilated. Lower your shields and power down your weapons. Your biological units will be used to service us. The collective must grow. ~assimilates JYAP~

There's a good reason why you don't see any Borg Liches. I'd destroy you but then I lose my only decent potential WC buddy. (TAKE THAT HALFWING!)

Hell, I know what to do.

~trades his WoW game that he never installed for WCIII~

Have I mentioned that Blizzard has fallen under the influence of Pay2Play?

JYAP
07-23-2006, 01:04 PM
There's nothing wrong with Pay2Play. They need to make a profit off this. Server costs,salaries...really,not their fault. Besides,B.Net is free.

Protoss119
07-23-2006, 06:19 PM
HA! They've probably got a million with all the people playing WoW. I'm not saying the game sucks, I'm just saying that I don't want to give away personal info and valuable money to play it.

Felonious Monk
07-23-2006, 07:50 PM
Blizzard makes millions each month off of WoW over and above operating costs. They can afford to cut subscribers some slack, but they choose not too. Can't really blame them though, it's all about supply and demand.

JYAP
07-23-2006, 09:11 PM
If you had really good lemonade and everyone wanted it,and you needed some money to make this lemonade, would you give it away or charge money for it?

They only take your personal info so they know who to call the cops on for skimping on payments. As nessecary as it is,I swear Blizzard has a Night Elf Mafia ready to hunt down whoever missed a payment.
(realizes he owes 20$)
OH SHI-
(manaburn'd)

Protoss119
07-24-2006, 07:28 AM
Depends on how much money you have. Let's say everyone in the neighborhood is buying this lemonade (that is to say, you have absolutely NO competition so there's no need to pull a John D. Rockefeller) and you're making REALLY good money. Do you want to raise the cost of the lemonade, thereby risk your potential customers?

(OK, so there's no chance that people running lemonade stands are going to be involved in big business, but you get the idea)

Night Elf Mafia...evil. Must...join...

~joins, becomes the next Mr. Clamps~

You better not piss me off, man, or I'ma givin' you da CLAMPS! ~clamps clamps (lol)~

JYAP
07-24-2006, 08:32 AM
You never know Toss. If your lemonade's that good, soon some guy that works for the newspaper will try it. Boom, instant publicity. Even more people come, and before you know it,you're getting offers.

Whenever I watch my dad play his 60 Night Elf Hunter in PvP,he's always Public Enemy No. 1. :D

Protoss119
07-24-2006, 09:46 AM
Shweetness.

Well, I mean no competition from neighbors; of course they're also going to buy from their local general store, etc. So if you raise the cost...

Of course, the newspaper guy won't exactly play WoW without getting addicted to it. When that's the case, it's probably never gonna hit the papers if he's THAT addicted to it. XD

Almuric
07-24-2006, 12:42 PM
I choose the other route. They cant have my money! No lemonade for me.

Protoss119
07-24-2006, 01:02 PM

JYAP

Was speaking to Trog. Should have used a quote, sorry.

Felonious Monk
09-03-2006, 12:37 AM
Pay2Play is a legitimate method of earning money off of a product, but it's not one that I would ever consider as a consumer. Why would I dump hundreds of dollars into WoW when I can get the same entertainment value from NWN or NWN2 at a fraction of the price?

On the lemonade analogy: Imagine that each cup of lemonade costs you $.05 to make, and you charge $2 for a cup. It's the best lemonade in the world, so you could get away with it. You could charge customers $2 and give them free refills for the rest of the day and still make a hefty profit, but instead you charge an extra $1 for each refill. Your profit margin is incredible, but you're leeching money from the pockets of all the neigborhood kids who have to have that lemony goodness. You could go to the free refill model or even reduce the refill price to $.50, but even though it would help your customers it would cut into your profits. That's what Blizzard is doing. While I don't blame them for wanting to make a crap-ton of cash off of Pay2Play, they aren't going to get their hands on mine.

Until Diablo 3.

JYAP
09-03-2006, 08:26 AM
It's not even that expensive. The average Pay2Play price is 10 dollars. I make 20 dollars a month. Pricey for me,but if I can pay it,why the hell can't anyone else?

Protoss119
09-03-2006, 10:28 AM
Because not everyone has a job to pay for said price. We've already paid 20-something dollars to buy the game; now we gotta pay 10 dollars a month to pay it? NWN never charged that much, and according to my calculations (of which I have evidence from Gametalk), mages are actually GOOD in NWN...

But then, I state again, we've got a helluva bunch of people buying WoW every day. Does Blizzard REALLY need to charge more? IMO, they're getting enough off the sales alone.

Halfwingseen
09-03-2006, 11:22 AM
I personally make 30 dollars a Month and i have to pay for everything by myself
i Also have a girlfriend to buy things for So im constantly borrowing money from people and ive already gone into Pre-Mature American Debt Syndrome ( PMADS)

so if i were to buy WoW i would quite literally go to debtors prison even though it doesnt exist anymore.

Felonious Monk
09-03-2006, 07:27 PM
If you bought WoW when it came out around December 2004 for $50 and only paid $10/month since then (I know it was $15/month at least for a while), you will have already spent $270 on that one game. I got NWN and all of the expansions in 2003 for I think $60, and I played it for longer than that. I seriously doubt WoW could have given me $210 worth of entertainment over what NWN has given me. For someone like me that has other responsibilities to attend to, I just can't justify spending $10 every month on a game when it could go towards loans, bills , or credit cards instead.

Not in NWN, but in NWN2.

Trog, if any of WNx are members of the Bioware forums, get them to try to convince Bioware to fix Hide/MS so that the sneaker disappears 1 round after switching to stealth mode in combat. Not much, but it should suffice.

Almuric
09-05-2006, 03:35 PM
what did they do in NWN2 to fix it?

JYAP
09-05-2006, 03:46 PM
Hm. I never took into account Trog and Seith. If I did,our team of 6 would destroy all the fools.

Now if only we could throw that in Eternal War against both teams. It'd be all "wtf hax" as we destroy clusters of noobs.

They changed it so that every time it is used everyone in the vicinity gets to make Spot and Listen checks, rather than the one per round they get in NWN. I'm not sure, but I think they may have added more reasonable penalties for using it in broad daylight (don't quote me on that). I can't remember if they added a cool-down timer or not.

Dredoc'll be better with a couple assassin levels. Ranger spells don't need a lot of spell slots.

Halfwingseen
09-06-2006, 03:23 PM
Pure rangers are going to be totally insane JYAP ranger spells got beefed along with the fact taht you can take Use Magic Item with Ranger and if you take 1 level of rogue ( for sneak ) you can put full points into it like you would a class skill which means. BAM ranger with ability to use Fighter gear making him amazingly powerful along with wands combining wands with HIPS and high hp and bowshots making him very powerful ( well lvl 19 ranger lvl 1 rogue )

JYAP
09-06-2006, 03:36 PM
Uh huh. Unique fighter gear that the ranger can use without sacrificing his style bonuses is gonna be few and far in-between. Assassin's still nice though. They get all the stuff Rogue gets.

Almuric
09-06-2006, 04:15 PM
You guys forget that you wont be able to bank up skill points anymore. You have to use them all at each level.

JYAP

I do. I save them up for Tumble when need be.

Halfwingseen
09-06-2006, 06:09 PM
well i did occasionally when lvling up to 40 from 1 to save for lvl 40 to become a bard or monk for insta huge ac from tumble but yea i dun care bout that but assassin gets significantly less skill point wise.
assasin doesnt get UMD disable trap search listen ( he gets spot ) pick pocket

Almuric
09-06-2006, 07:27 PM
Like I said, NWN2 - that's gone. :)

Felonious Monk
09-06-2006, 07:57 PM
Not entirely. While it has been severely limited, it's pretty much obsolete with the way skill points are now handled. If I want a rogue/barbarian with 20 points in UMD and Tumble I can still do it rather easily.

For example: Start with a human and take your first level in rogue. By taking Able Learner I can now buy Tumble and UMD ranks as if they were class skills no matter what class I am leveling up in. It's the same as skill dumping in NWN, only you take the skill class first rather than last.

For races without Able Learner it might be a bit more expensive in terms of levels or cross-class skill points, but it can still be done. Take a dwarven rogue 2/fighter 18 with 14 INT (for IKD, etc). If he takes his first rogue level at 4 and has saved 5 skill points, he can bring Tumble and UMD up to 7 each. The fighter can then add 4 points per level to Tumble and UMD for 6 more levels (total cost of 24 points) and take his last rogue level at 17, bringing his scores up to 20 each. The total skill point cost is 52 points rather than 40.

JYAP

er jyap high school is awesome for me
its basically one endless party
( i am a genius according to tests )
and basically nothing has challanged me yet at all so i basically could skip class everyday but for tests and pass the class with a B or A
i have no problem with school and i hope real life is harder or life is boring
though i have talked to local heads of TNT records( the guy who signs new bands ) :/ they love the lyrics i write if i can get music to them and get some people to play the songs i could geta record deal for around 50 grand in promotion ( for free ) and then something like 20% profit from sales which isnt much i agree but damn eh? ^^ i dun plan on becoming a musician its too hard a life for me i anjoy writing lyrics but the business end of the deal sucks
